Whether you want to run alone, or in a group, we can help you train!

Training Programs:

Are you new to running and interested in taking on an exciting challenge in 2018?  Are you tired of gaining weight and losing fitness over the holidays? Are you interested in racing and training with like-minded folks?  If so, join one of the Kent Island Running Group’s 2018 Holiday Training Programs!

  • Couch to 5K: goal race is either the Y Charity Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving morning or the Jingle Bell 5K Run on December 8
  • 10K:  goal race is the Jingle Bell 10K Run on December 8

The registration fee includes a race-specific and individualized training plan tailored to your weekly schedule and fitness goals, a weekly supported group run with water and nutrition, race registration, and one year membership to the Kent Island Running Group (a $20 value).   

Group training runs are offered on Saturday mornings on the Cross Island Trail, with optional hill and/or track training opportunities offered monthly. Workouts are led by experienced runners and RRCA-certified running coaches providing specific goals for each workout, training tips, support and encouragement. Trainees will also receive discounts for gear at local running stores and a weekly coach's newsletter packed with information about nutrition, strength training, injury prevention and recovery, among other runner-specific topics.

Training for the 10K starts on Saturday, September 15. Training for the 5K starts on Saturday, September 29.
