Race-Day Registration

Race-day registration will be available at the pavilion connected to the pub. Have check made out to Kent Island Running Group (KIRG). Race-day registrants should arrive at least one hour before the race begins.

Runners who register early should arrive by 8:00am.

About The Race

This year, KIRG is partnering again with the Centreville YMCA for our Thanksgiving morning race! The Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K at Hunter's Oak Golf Club features a 5K course, bib-timing, age group awards, and allows dogs and strollers on the course! Race proceeds and food collected at the race will be donated to local charities, including St Martin's Ministries, an outreach serving over 250 poor and homeless people per month on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Start your Thanksgiving morning with family and friends on a scenic course in a beautiful setting at Hunter's Oak Golf Club. Give "thanks" by knowing that your registration fee and the non-perishables you donate will help those in need in surrounding communities. Costumes encouraged, so be festive and creative!

Please bring at least 2 non-perishable Food Donations to benefit Saint Martin Ministries, a local outreach serving over 250 poor and homeless people per month on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Our goal is to collect at least 1300 pounds of food!


The Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K offers a 5K course. The scenic course includse a mix of flat and rolling terrain in a beautiful Scottish-Hills style setting with pond views, occasional wildlife sightings, woods, fields, and, of course, the golf course!

Please note: The path can be narrow in some spots. We kindly ask that walkers and those with strollers keep to the right of the path to leave the course as clear as possible for the runners. There will be one water stop on the course. Port o pots are only available in the parking area. There are none on the course.


7:30 a.m. - Race-Day Registration Opens.

8:30 a.m. - Race Start

Post-race party until 10:00am

Pre And Post Race

Refreshments will be provided pre- and post-race, thanks to Queenstown Veterinary Hospital! The bar will be open so bring some cash if you would like a post race cocktail. Please don't forget to bring 2 non-perishable food items to donate to Saint Martin's Ministries. The list below represents the most needed items:

- Canned or packaged tuna fish
- Peanut butter (and jelly)
- Canned soups
- Canned fruit (single serving packages are good for older clients and for children’s lunches or snacks)
- Packaged pasta
- Tomato sauce (cans or plastic jars, no glass jars please)
- Mac’n cheese
- Packaged rice mixes
- Beans (dry or canned)
- Cereal (low sugar please)
